When we see the hurt in our husband’s eyes because of our unkind words.

When our child acts inappropriately and we realize they are mimicking our own behavior.

When we aren’t there for a friend.

When we wonder how He could love us, sinners condemned unclean.

When we don’t live up to our expectations. When we aren’t the wife. The mother. The friend. The child of God we want to be.

Do we wallow in self-pity? I have.

Do we shift the blame? Been there, done that.

Do we pull ourselves up the bootstraps, promising ourselves we’ll do better next time. Yup, guilty.

Or do we cling to the pervasiveness of His grace? Do we recognize our inability to do better on our own. Do we cry out to the One who knows us better than ourselves for His transforming power to work in our lives?
